Student BPA November 27 Learning about Admission & Records

It is lunch time and I am on break from a very long long long meeting. Actually it was one of the few productive meetings that I have attended. These meetings are facilitated by consultants who are trying to figure out our Business Practices at Rio, and will try to conform the MIS to our processes. This week we are working through the Student BPA.

This morning I attended the Introduction to BPA and Student application which was about how a student application is processed. I was locked in the room with A&R, Community Services, and I.T. This process will not affect the instructional faculty directly but it was interesting to watch and learn. The consultant walked the participant through creation of a flow chart.

As they were going through this process, they realized that A&R does not need to keep student applications till the end of the semester. They could give them to IT in batches as they receive them. So as a result of going through the steps they streamlined the process even before the MIS goes up.

This afternoon we will go through student registration which may affect us as far as who can register for our classes after the first day of class. Also it may include dropping students.

Tomorrow is an important day because that is when they will discuss Grades. I will be there but I have to leave at 9:40 AM
