Student Grade Expectations

I saw the following article on the New York Times. The story reminded me of the look of disappointment on my students as they receive a grade equivalent to their understanding of the material. Many students in Economics feel (a word that I am not comfortable with) that they deserve a high grade because they need it.
A random thought: Maybe SLOs will put an end to these feelings and concentrate the mind of our students that outcomes are more important then needs and wants.
