Interesting article, but the adjunct's experience doesn't correlate too much to our experience at Rio Hondo. We don't shunt off the worst students to adjuncts, allowing ourselves to be shut off to the worst cases. All of us have great, good, average, and bad students.
Also, I find that my adult students are some of the best students I have, and my night classes have had pretty strong students overall. There are some commonalities between our experiences, but a northeastern community college and our school do have some fundamental differences. I do understand the overall argument, however. The problem is, how do we fix the system?
