Barry Schwartz on Loss of Wisdom

 The last President of the college imagined himself at a large organization where rules are followed blindly without questions. His method may have worked at a larger institution where nobody knows anybody and work is just that "Work".   In such large organizations Rules and Regulations replaces wisdom as a short cut that does not require any wisdom.
We at Rio Hondo are lucky that we are small enough that our human brains can remember almost every staff member on campus. This is the reason for the "family" feeling at Rio Hondo.  This attitude and or feeling by staff is the reason for students loving this college over one of the other surrounding impersonal larger community colleges.
