Conducting at Rio Hondo Presidential Search

Rio Hondo College is searching for a new college president. The college president is very similar to a conductor of an orchestra. The music of minds expanding is achieved through various players in this orchestra we call Rio Hondo college. The classified staff who lay down and maintain the underlying infrastructure of this wonderful learning environment. The faculty who are the various strings in the orchestra and some like the author of this post are the brass section.
All of these players are brought together by the college president.
The last college president's dictatorial behavior was very similar to Riccardo Muti. The 700 musicians under him collected signatures asking for him to resign his post as conductor.  This is similar to the reaction the last college President at Rio Hondo received from both Classified staff, and faculty.
Before Dr. TMJ we were lead by Dr. Manuel Baca. He conducted our learning symphony at Rio Hondo through listening to the music and only catching and correcting the bad notes. His style is similar to Herbert Von Karajan who inspired action through freedom and enforcing discipline by appealing to our sense of professionalism. This is why as Academic Senate President, I forwarded his name for a seat on the Board of Governors.
Now we are being lead by Ms. Teresa Dreyfuss. She holds the line and corrects bad notes while always striving for harmony. Her style again is very similar to Herbert Von Karajan maybe with a little Strauss as she keeps a close eye on me and other people in the brass section. She follows rules number 5 and 6 of Strauss' Ten Commandments:
5. But never let the horns and woodwinds out of your sight. If you can hear them at all they are still too strong.
6.
If you think that the brass is not blowing hard enough, tone it down another shade or two.
Both of Dr. Baca and Ms. Dreyfuss have inspired this Prima Donna to work harder and in the case Ms. Dreyfuss to 'tone it down'.

Disclaimer: During my undergraduate days I got a C in music! However, I know great educational leaders because I have had the honor and pleasure of serving under two of them. OK it is time to go to sleep.
