United To Educate

United to Educate

Promote Your Page Too
Tonight  at the Board meeting I sat in for the President of RHCFA Colin Young.  I delivered to each of the Board members and our new college President, Ms. Tresa Dreyfus a shirts with the words United to Educate Classified, Community, Faculty on them. One thing that I (mike Javanmard) love about Rio Hondo is the commitment of the faculty and the classified staff at Rio Hondo to fighting ignorance and poverty by educating the future generation in the community entrusted to us. It is my hope that we can work together to accomplish this important task.
The following is the text of my speech on behalf of the RHCFA:

A few years ago as Academic Senate President I verbalized the feeling of all at Rio Hondo with the slogan of “United to Educate - Classified, Faculty and Community” as a way to bring us together to work on the accreditation issue. Under the leadership of Dr. Martinez I watched us unite in anger. (stricken by RHCFA  leadership and replaced with the following underlined passage) Over the last several years we were concerned that cooperation with Administration was lacking. However, tonight we are happy because we see us truly uniting to educate our students.  In order to fulfill this promise and link up the last link in this promise, the Faculty Association would like to give each of you a shirt with our belief in unity and cooperation for a brighter future of our students.
The Faculty Association would like to thank CSEA for their acceptance of this ideal and being open to working with both faculty and the community to achieve this lofty goal. It is our hope that you as representative of the community will accept this goal too. With that I would like to present you with a small token of our appreciation.
I am glad to report that this new spirit of cooperation was echoed by all present, and I almost cried but we all know that boys don't cry.

  2. No. I owe people like you. I would have kept quiet if I did not have faith in my fellow faculty. Thank you. mike javanmard
